Materials play a vital role in the development of every nation. Mastery of materials science drives economic growth, supports infrastructure development, strengthens industrial production, and lays the foundation for innovation and technological advancement. It also contributes to the efficient use of natural resources and ensures sustainable development. Investment in education and research in materials is essential to maintaining global competitiveness and safeguarding national security. Materials science is one of the four key areas of science and technology prioritized for investment by both the State and Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the current period. To meet the growing demand for highly qualified professionals in this field, the School of Materials Science and Engineering comprises four faculties, five disciplines, and six training programs: Textile Technology; Polymer and Composite Materials Technology; Materials Engineering; Materials Science and Engineering; Printing Engineering; and Microelectronics Engineering & Nanotechnology. In terms of scientific research, the School of Materials Science and Engineering promotes both applied and fundamental research in parallel.

The School places strong emphasis on applied research to decode and master materials technologies, facilitate technology transfer, and directly address the production and localization needs of various industries. The School of Materials Science and Engineering actively maintains, expands, and strengthens partnerships and collaborations with organizations and enterprises across diverse industries, as well as with research institutes and training institutions both domestically and internationally, to foster development and integration. Hanoi University of Science and Technology has invested in modern facilities for the School of Materials Science and Engineering and granted it greater autonomy in education, research, innovation, and technology transfer. On its development path, the School creates the best conditions for its faculty and staff to demonstrate their competence, dedication, and sense of responsibility in training, ensuring that students develop both professional capabilities and personal qualities. At the same time, it promotes research and technology transfer, thereby contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development.
