INTRODUCTION
“Polymer and Composite Materials” Industry
The industry of “Polymer and Composite Materials” is interdisciplinary between the chemical industry, petrochemical refining, materials, mechanics, etc. The main products of the industry such as: Plastic, Rubber, Paint, Adhesive and Composite (composite materials) are present in most areas of life as well as in industrial production. Therefore, it can be said that “Polymer and Composite Materials” are the materials of the present and the future.
In Vietnam today, there are about 4,000 enterprises in the field of “Polymer and Composite Materials”. The average growth rate of the industry is 16-18%/year. The “Polymer and Composite Materials” industry not only creates household products but also directly participates in the production chain of many important and core industries of the economy such as: Automobiles, Motorcycles, Shipbuilding, Aviation; Electrical, electronic and refrigeration components and equipment; Medical supplies; Chips and microcircuits; Textiles, Footwear; Construction materials, etc.
Program "Polymer and composite materials technology" at HUST
The program “Polymer and Composite Materials Technology” inherits and develops the contents of the major orientation of Polymer and Composite Materials that has been trained regularly and continuously for over 30 years at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and at the same time updates, completes and compares with the programs of advanced countries in the world in the same field. Up to now, this is the FIRST and ONLY program in Vietnam that is built COMPLETELY and MOST COMPLETELY on “Polymer and Composite Materials”.
TRAINING ORIENTATION
The training program is built in a balanced direction:In-depth theory - Updating advanced technology - Solid professional skills
- In-depth theory: Students are provided with knowledge about the structure, nature and behavior of Polymer and Composite materials to be able to understand, control the production process and product quality, and develop new materials and products.
- Updating advanced technology: Students are trained in the most advanced and modern technologies being used in industrial practice to produce products: Thermoplastics; Thermosetting plastics; Paints; Natural rubber; Synthetic rubber; Glues and adhesives; Composite materials, etc,.
- Solid professional skills: 30% of training time is spent on experiments and practice in specialized laboratories and workshops with equipment similar to/approaching industrial scale and 10-20% of training time is spent on practical production experience at enterprises, which will help students acquire the necessary professional skills upon graduation.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES
Graduates of the program “Polymer and Composite Materials Technology” have:
- The ability to receive and implement production technology; create and develop technical solutions.
- Ability to analyze, consult, manage quality, manage engineering and technology.
- Good social communication and foreign language skills, ability to work independently or in a team in an interdisciplinary and global competitive environment.

- 100% of students of “Polymer and Composite Materials Technology” have access to equipment of the “National Key Laboratory of Polymer and Composite Materials”, as well as modern laboratories with concentrated investment in the field of materials of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

- 100% of students who wish to participate in specialized labs from the second year. Students participating in the lab are supported, completely free of charge, with equipment, supplies, chemicals and raw materials during the research process.
