Organizational structure
The organizational structure of the School of Materials includes:
1. The Party Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering
The Party Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering is a subordinate unit of the Party Committee of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, operating in accordance with the Charter of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Mass organizations and socio-political organizations such as the Trade Union, the Youth Union, and the Student Association operate under the provisions of law and their respective charters, under the unified leadership of the Party Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. They are responsible for contributing to the fulfillment of the School’s political mission.
2. School Board of Deans
The School Board of Deans consists of the Deen and three Vice deens. The Deen is the head of the School of Materials Science and Engineering and is responsible for organizing and ensuring the effective and high-quality implementation of all missions and tasks of the School.
3. Councils
- School Council: The School Council is established to advise the Deen in carrying out duties as regulated, including:
- Strategy, planning, and development policies of the School; organizational and operational regulations; and internal financial management regulations.
- Orientation and planning for the development of the School’s staff and faculty.
- Annual operational plans, financial plans, financial reports, and budget settlements in line with the School’s financial strategy, including decentralized funds and other legal revenue sources.
- Enrollment policies and plans; structure of training levels; and orientation for the development of disciplines and academic programs.
- Directions for scientific and technological development; identification of priority research areas; and strategies for building and advancing research groups.
- Proposals for establishing, dissolving, or reorganizing subordinate units at the third level.
- Other issues as prescribed by the regulations of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
- Scientific and Training Council
The Scientific and Training Council serves as an advisory body to the Deen on policies, regulations, directions, and plans for the development of training and research. It also provides consultation on faculty development, academic titles, and the planning of specialized groups and research laboratories.
4. Units of the School
The units of the School are organized into three main divisions according to their functional activities: education, research, and administration.
- Education Division: This division includes four Faculties and one Technical Center. Each Faculty is responsible for the academic programs of one or more disciplines, while specialized groups manage the academic content of specific courses. The Technical Center is in charge of training facilities.
- Research Division: This division comprises the Creative Materials Research Center, the Materials Analysis and Evaluation Center, research laboratories, and research groups. It is the hub for the School’s scientific and technological activities, innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship.
- Administrative Division: The Administrative Division is represented by the School Office, which performs centralized administrative functions. It provides support to the Board of Deens in areas such as training, admissions, academic affairs, management of science and technology activities, facilities, finance and accounting, communications, external cooperation, alumni network, and clerical services.
